I'm sure there are many of you out there who know of, or have had a family member and/or friend...either succumb to, or are currently struggling with cancer, or a cancer-related syndrome. Our hearts and thoughts go out to you all.
Glitch PC...is fighting back! Glitch PC...in voluntary cooperation with Stanford University, is currently participating in a program called Folding@home (FAH). What is FAH? Folding@home is a distributed computing project that, very simply stated, studies protein folding and misfolding. What is protein folding? For a detailed explanation...please, visit FAH's Science page. What is distributed computing? Distributed Computing is a method of computer processing in which different parts of a program, or different portions of data, are processing simultaneously on two or more computers that are communicating with each other over a network or through the Internet. Currently...Glitch PC has a team which helps support this project. Our team members download and install software on their own computers which, in turn, uses the computer's CPU to process packets downloaded from the FAH project. You don't have to be a member of our website in order to participate in this worthy cause. This project is open to everyone...and the software does not impede the average user's computer performance. If you own a PlayStation 3...you can use its processor, as well. For more information about Folding@home...please, visit their website: Folding@home Should you decide to participate...and join our team...below is some additional information which will assist you when and if you decide to join us:
We look forward to you joining us. Let's make a difference...starting today! |
