Don't see that often...
« on: May 26, 2011, 08:23:53 am »
I was going through my e-mail, trying to catch up, when I noticed a funny spam message.  I've seen plenty of these e-mails claim to not be spam, but this one actually had itself labeled as "///SPAM///" in nice big letters in the subject line (it was something like "///SPAM/// She will fall for you!").  I just thought that was funny because it seemed a bit self-defeating.
Actually, the name is Chris...

Reverse psychology, Chris.   They figure everybody is used to getting the usual spams that just say "Special notice!" or "A love letter for you!", so one that outrightly says "SPAM" might be looked at like "Hey....now THIS ONE may be legit!!" ;D

I always catch the same 3 old things in my spam box.   They're always titled "Gucci/Louis Vitton", "Buy Tylenol", or most often, "Buy Viagra!".   So they either think I need a watch, I'm in pain, or I'm having.....ahem.....problems pitching the tent.  ;D

LOL!   Well....I didn't really mean it was seen as legit spam (like saying that's a "true lie"), just as being legit whatever-else.   Kinda like when someone tells you so many lies you think that's all that comes out of their mouth, so when they say something that is so blatantly outrageous and obviously a lie, then you think "Hey, he ought to know I would know that's for sure a lie, so.....maybe it's the truth!".    ;D

Okay, just my screwy logic..... BUT, I'll have you know I hurt my brain coming up with that one!   I don't get into "deep thoughts" too often, and that's why.  ;)   Now where's that Tylenol?.....oh yeah, I can buy some from that totally legit spammy email company I mentioned!  HA!

Sounds like the same reasoning they use on ST: Voyager.  Heh.

You know, maybe I should've taken a better look at the e-mail...it's quite possible that they were just trying to sell me a case of SPAM!

I wonder how often you can request something from a spammer, before they deem YOU a spammer XD

Depends on how smart/dumb they are.  I had one going for about a week before they realized I was yankin' their chain.
